**CBSE Launches Psychological Counseling Services: A Support for Students and Parents**

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a significant step to address the mental well-being of students and parents by launching psychological counseling services from January 1, 2024. This move comes in line with the upcoming examination schedule for classes 10 and 12, demonstrating the board’s commitment to providing holistic support to its stakeholders.

**Tele-counselling for Students and Parents**

One of the notable initiatives introduced by CBSE is the provision of voluntary and free-of-cost tele-counselling services. Available from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday to Saturday, this service seeks to offer support to students and parents as they navigate through academic and emotional challenges. Additionally, CBSE has implemented a 24/7 IVRS (Interactive Voice Response System) service accessible through the Board’s toll-free number, 1800-11-8004. These services aim to reduce the stress and anxiety levels experienced by students, especially during the pre-exam and post-result phases.

Since its inception in 1998, CBSE’s counseling services have been structured to provide comprehensive support to students. The approach includes pre-exam counseling focused on preparing students for the challenges ahead and post-result counseling aimed at aiding them in dealing with the outcomes. This longstanding commitment to student well-being showcases CBSE’s dedication to fostering a conducive learning environment.

**International Reach of Counseling Services**

Another noteworthy aspect of the psychological counseling services is the global reach it encompasses. CBSE has assembled a team of 65 principals, trained counsellors, special educators, and psychologists to deliver counseling services, with the inclusion of 13 counselors from various countries, such as Kuwait, Nepal, Japan, Doha-Qatar, Oman (Muscat), and the United Arab Emirates (Dubai, Sharjah, Ras-al-Khaimah). This international dimension of support reflects CBSE’s endeavor to cater to the diverse needs of students and parents worldwide.

The accessibility of counseling services in countries including Kuwait, Nepal, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Oman, USA, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates underlines CBSE’s commitment to ensuring that its support network extends beyond geographical boundaries.

**Inclusive Support through Podcasts**

In addition to traditional counseling services, CBSE has also leveraged technology to provide additional support to its stakeholders. Bilingual podcasts covering relevant subjects have been made available on CBSE’s official website, cbse.gov.in. This initiative not only complements the existing tele-counselling services but also demonstrates CBSE’s innovative approach to reaching out to students and parents through diverse channels.

With the introduction of podcasts, CBSE has extended its support beyond direct counseling, recognizing the importance of catering to varied learning and information consumption preferences.

In conclusion, the launch of psychological counseling services by CBSE embodies a progressive approach towards addressing the holistic well-being of students and parents. By offering comprehensive tele-counselling services, global outreach, and innovative use of technology through podcasts, CBSE aims to create a supportive ecosystem for its stakeholders. This initiative not only addresses the immediate needs of students and parents but also promotes a culture of mental well-being and academic resilience within the education community.

Through these efforts, CBSE sets a commendable precedent for educational boards and institutions, emphasizing the significance of holistic support for the academic and emotional welfare of students and parents.
