It will emerge as the third largest industrial cluster in Tamil Nadu Krishnagiri A state-of-the-art skill development center will be set up at Chulagiri Chipkot Industrial Park in the district at a cost of Rs 80 crore, the Tamil Nadu Finance Minister said.

Earlier, Tamil Nadu Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan presented the financial statement for the financial year 2023-24 today. The minister said that the government is making all efforts to improve the human resources in the state.

Polytechnic Colleges Rs. 2,783 Crore Allocation:

He said that the project to convert 71 government vocational training institutes into centers of excellence is underway at a cost of 2,877 crores to create manpower required for the changing industrial environment.

He announced that the next phase of this will be the launch of a project to transform government polytechnic colleges into centers of excellence in accordance with Industry 4.0 standards in collaboration with industry. The objectives of the scheme are to improve the structure of these educational institutions, to develop professional curricula, to improve the skills of teachers and to create employment opportunities for students. In this scheme, 54 government polytechnic colleges will be upgraded as centers of excellence at an estimated cost of Rs 2,783 crore, he said.

TN – WISH will be set up in Ambattur:

With the objectives of imparting world-class skill training to teachers working in polytechnics and creating skilled workforce, Rs. Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan said that ‘Tamil Nadu Global Innovation Initiatives and Skills Training Centre’ (TN-WISH) will be set up at Ambattur, Chennai at a cost of Rs 120 crore.

Skill Schools in Industries:

The Minister said that the existing factories will be used as vocational training centers for the youth to massively increase the skill training infrastructure. In-house training institutes will be encouraged. He announced that 25 crore rupees have been allocated for this scheme called Factory Skill Schools this year.

He also said that a state-of-the-art skill development center will be established at Chulagiri Chipgat Industrial Park in Krishnagiri district, which is emerging as the third largest industrial cluster in Tamil Nadu at an estimated cost of Rs 80 crore.
